Meet The Team

Ashleigh Hinde
Co-founder & Chair
Ashleigh Hinde is the U.S. CEO of Waldo, a high-growth optical brand transforming vision care through digital innovation and customer-led design. She founded Waldo in the UK and scaled it across international markets, including rapid growth in the U.S. prior to its acquisition by a leading global optical retailer. Her career spans management roles in Geneva, London, and now San Francisco, where she resides.
Ashleigh is also the co-founder of Vision Labs and CLEA, a mobile corneal screening technology and eyecare platform designed to improve access to eyecare across a patient’s lifespan. She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Cape Town and a Master’s in Finance from Harvard.
A passionate advocate for accessible healthcare and female leadership in tech, Ashleigh brings a global perspective and entrepreneurial edge to every venture she leads.

Darius Moshfeghi
Co-founder & Chief Medical Advisor
Darius M. Moshfeghi, MD, is Chief of Retina at Stanford University School of Medicine He created the largest telemedicine program in ophthalmology for premature and term infants, providing screening coverage for >2.5% of USA hospitals and >4% of eligible infants.
He is a director for GigCapital7 (GIGGU). He sold Placid0 to Waldo and was instrumental as a director when KKR acquired 1800 Contacts. He co-founded Vision Labs, a mobile corneal screening technology, and Pr3vent, which offers universal newborn eye screening of infants on 3 continents.
Dr. Moshfeghi was inducted into the 2021 class of the Retina Hall of Fame.

Ettienne Reinecke
Co-founder & CEO
Ettienne Reinecke, M.Eng. has had a successful career in information technology, including as a global business executive, technologist and evangelist of applied innovation.
​
He has led large scale transformation initiatives, such as the digital transformation of the world's largest cycle race, the Tour de France, and recently the development of an AI-driven data enrichment platform in the fashion industry.
​
Mr. Reinecke is involved in venture capital, with a focus on technology-led, early-stage startups with the potential to be disruptive. He is the strategic advisor to the growth stage fund at Parc Capital (Australia).

Nikolai Steklov
Co-founder & Product Advisor
Nikolai Steklov is a technology and product executive specializing in healthcare platforms and digital commerce. His career began in bioengineering and medical research at Scripps Clinic, where he focused on translational science and patient-centered innovation. He later transitioned into eye care startups, holding leadership roles across product, engineering, and design at multiple venture-backed companies, including those supported by investors such as Google Ventures.
His background spans SaaS, e-commerce, and healthcare infrastructure, with a focus on building scalable, user-centric ecosystems. Nikolai brings a multidisciplinary approach to platform development, combining expertise in healthcare, technology, and business growth.

Zach Bodnar
Co-founder & Chief Technology Advisor
Dr. Zachary M. Bodnar, MD, M. Eng. is board-certified in ophthalmology and specializes in vitreoretinal and surgery and retinopathy of prematurity. He co-founded Placid0 with Dr. Moshfeghi and was Chief Executive Officer until the company’s acquisition. Originally an engineer by training, he studied electrical engineering and computer science at MIT with a particular interest in computer graphics and artificial intelligence.
He has been involved with startup companies at all stages of his career, beginning as a senior software engineer at Endeca prior to its acquisition by Oracle. Dr. Bodnar studied medicine at Dartmouth Medical School. He completed internship in general surgery at the Mayo Clinic, Arizona, residency in ophthalmology at St. Louis University and fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Stanford University.
He also completed a fellowship in ophthalmic pathology at the University of Utah and was the inaugural Ophthalmic Innovation Fellow at the Stanford Byer’s Eye Institute.
